Infectious venereal diseases
generally indicate all diseases transmitted through sexual activity.
Cause of Incidence
- Usually, this is contracted through sexual activity shared
with an infected person, and may be transmitted by fingers or
mouths. Furthermore, vertical transmission may take place from
mother to fetus, and rarely, protozoan infection may take place
in everyday places such as public baths and steam rooms.
Classification
- Bacillosis : syphilis , gonorrhea , chancroid , nongonococcal
urethritis (Chlamydia)
- Virus infection : acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS),
herpes genitalis (genital herpes), condyloma acuminatum (anogenital
wart)
- Protozoan infection : trichomonas vaginitis , amebic urethritis
- Fungal infection : candida vaginitis
Symptoms
- Skin rash and alopecia : when contracted of syphilis, skin
rash on palms and soles along with sudden loss of hair may take
place.
- Becoming feverish : low fever or symptoms of coming down with
the initial state of a cold, displayed on the whole body, could
be the initial symptoms of syphilis or gonorrhea.
- Leucorrhoea , abdominal pain : such symptoms may be displayed
in cases of gonorrhea
- Unusual fluor : in cases of candida vaginitis, trichomonas vaginitis
- White skim inside the mouth : in cases of syphilis , AIDS, gonorrhea
- Blebs : blebs or ulcers may occur in the perineal region in
cases of herpes
- Warts : in cases of anogenital warts, verruca in the shape of
a rooster's crown may occur
However, most sexual diseases display no symptoms, having patients
live unaware of them and generating complications such as infertility,
uterine cancer, chronic infection, jaundice, and etc. In cases
of long-term infection, they can trigger fatal results. Therefore,
periodic examinations of at least once a year are necessary.
Those Requiring Examination
- 1. Men and women over their 20s.
- 2. Prenatal diagnosis of pregnant women.
- 3. Those of infertility or with experience of initial miscarriage
or habitual abortion.
- 4. Those with vaginitis.
- 5. Acute salpingitis or oophoritis , nongonococcal urethritis
, cervicitis , and pelvic inflammatory diseases.
